1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Munshi’s Hotel and Restaurant (“Munshi’s”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit hotelmunshis.com, make an enquiry, or book a stay with us. We have written it in plain language and we only collect what we need to look after your stay.
2. Who we are
Munshi’s Hotel and Restaurant is a family-run hotel and restaurant located on the Srinagar–Gulmarg Road, near J&K Bank, Tangmarg, Jammu and Kashmir 193402, India. For the purposes of applicable Indian data protection law, we are the business responsible for personal information we collect directly from you.
3. Information we collect when you visit the website
We do not use advertising trackers or analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel on this website. Like most websites, our hosting, security and caching systems may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and the date and time of your visit. This is used to keep the website secure, prevent misuse and make pages load reliably.
4. Information you give us
When you call, email or message us, or make a reservation, we may collect:
- your name;
- phone number and email address;
- details of your enquiry or stay, such as arrival and departure dates, room category, number of guests and any special requests;
- identity document details that hotels are required to record at check-in under applicable law; and
- any other information you choose to share with us.
5. Online bookings and third-party service providers
Online reservations on this website are handled by our booking engine provider, RevCatalyst. When you search for rooms or make a booking, the information you enter (for example your name, contact details, stay dates and guest numbers) is processed through RevCatalyst’s systems so that your reservation can be created and confirmed.
Where an online payment is taken, card and payment details are entered into and processed by the payment service provider used by the booking engine. We do not store your full card details on this website. These providers process your information under their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
Our Contact page displays an embedded Google Map. When that map loads, Google may collect information such as your IP address under Google’s own privacy policy.
6. How we use your information
- to respond to your enquiries;
- to create, confirm, change or cancel reservations;
- to prepare for and manage your stay, including special requests;
- to process payments and refunds;
- to meet legal, tax and guest-registration obligations; and
- to keep our website and premises safe and secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have agreed to that.
7. Cookies
Our website uses only cookies and similar technologies that are needed for it to work, stay secure and remember your booking search. The booking engine and embedded services (such as Google Maps) may set their own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the booking process may not work without them.
8. Sharing your information
We share personal information only where needed: with service providers who help us take bookings and payments or run our website; with government or law-enforcement authorities where the law requires it (including guest-registration requirements); and with professional advisers where necessary. We expect our service providers to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
9. How we protect and store information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including restricting access to staff who need it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, and then delete or anonymise it.
